How Does Hardwood Pellet Fireplaces Work?

Pellet stoves, also called wood-burning stoves, use wood as fuel, which is then burned under extremely high temperatures. These stoves are very popular in homes and small-scale businesses, as they require little maintenance and produce very little smoke. The wood that is used in pellet stoves is usually made from a specific tree, which is harvested for the plant, and then specially treated to make it suitable for combustion. The wood that is used in this type of stove should be treated periodically to make sure that it burns properly.

Woodstove safety

If the wood used in a stove that uses hardwood chips does not burn properly, it can cause damage to your home or the structure of the house. Hardwood chip pellets tend to burn much hotter than softwood chip pellets and they require more frequent smoking.

Pellets vs chips

There are two types of hardwood pellet stoves available: those that use hardwood chips and Vermont pellets. Vermont pellets are much cleaner-burning than hardwood pellet stoves, but the drawback of using Vermont pellets is that they can produce a little ash at a time.

Ash content

You need to be sure that you don’t put too much ash in your stove because the ash can damage your home and cause unpleasant odors to come out over time. It can also make it difficult to light certain things like candles since the ash can make it difficult to light.

Both hardwood pellet stoves and wood stoves with hardwood chips have been around for a long time. Newer technology has made these stoves much easier to operate and keep clean, although the ash that they produce may be higher in moisture content than traditional wood stoves.

With a little care, however, you should be able to get many years of good service from one of these wood stoves. If you use a higher density version, you should also consider periodically replacing the burners.
